Cadet Staff Application Instructions

CADET STAFF APPLICATIONS: We are accepting applications for the following Cadet Staff ONLY at this time. Ranks listed below are required by July 1, 2025. The available staff positions are:

Advanced Training Squadron (ATS):

  • Advanced Training Squadron Flight Commander (C/Capt - C/Col)

Encampment Line Staff:

  • Flight Commander (C/2d Lt - C/Capt)
  • Flight Sgt (C/SSgt - C/CMSgt)

Encampment Support Staff:

  • Logistics Staff (C/SrA & Above)
  • Communications Staff (C/SrA & Above)
  • Admin Staff (C/SrA & Above)
  • Public Affairs Staff (C/SrA & Above)
  • STAN/EVAL Staff (C/SrA & Above)
  • Medical Support (C/SSgt **see the qualification requirement addendum)

*You do not need to be the required minimum grade for the position when applying, but you must reach the grade by encampment.


INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLYING:

Squadron Commander signatures are required to apply.

Parent/Guardian signatures are also required (under 18 years of age).

Please submit your complete:

  • CAP Resume
  • Letter of Interest: Describe why you are interested in the role and explain what makes you the best candidate for the position. It should also list all three positions in preferential
  • order.
  • Endorsement Letter from Your Immediate Commander (Unit): This letter should confirm your suitability and recommend you as an applicant for this leadership opportunity.
  • Completed and signed (parent and commander) CAPF 60-81

Addendum:

Position Title: Cadet Medical Support Officer / NCO
Minimum Age Requirement: 15 years old
Role Summary:
The Cadet Medical Support Officer / NCO is responsible for supporting the health and wellness of encampment students and staff. Under the supervision of Senior Member Health Services Officers, the Cadet Medical Support Officer / NCO assists with documenting medical cases and conducting basic injury triage and wellness checks. This role is critical in ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all cadets while adhering to established guidelines and leadership protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately document all medical cases, including injury reports and treatment logs.
  • Perform basic injury triage within the scope of first aid training, such as assessing minor injuries or illnesses.
  • Communicate effectively with adult Health Services Officers and leadership regarding any medical concerns or escalations.
  • Support encampment safety protocols and respond promptly to medical incidents.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling medical information.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 15 years old by the start of encampment.
  • Basic first aid certification or equivalent training.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and adhere to chain-of-command protocols.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current experience as a Civil Air Patrol ground team member, enrollment in an EMT program, healthcare studies, or similar training.
  • Familiarity with basic triage procedures or advanced first aid techniques.
  • Proven leadership and teamwork skills.

Additional Notes:
Cadet Medical Support Officer / NCO will not perform any medical actions beyond their training or certification and must report all significant medical situations to a Senior Member immediately. This role does not replace the responsibilities of adult Health Services Officers but serves as a supportive function.
