Encampment has finally begun! First, cadets withstood the grueling task of standing in the in-processing line. Shortly thereafter, the basics proceeded up stairs to find their home away from home for the next seven days. This is turning out to be a great encampment already, certainly much better than most staffers expectation. Less than a half hour after the basics began arriving, the training began. Lessons were learned, long-forgotten drill commands were re-born, and the words ‘double-time’ were given new meaning. But like so much else, this silver lining was attached to a cloud. As the main dining hall is closed for the weekend, we must use another today, tomorrow, and next Saturday. Just to add a bit of coloration to the cloud, said dining hall is almost a mile in distance. Even some of the senior staff complained of aching tootsies. And with dark clouds comes rain, with rain comes agony, but it is well worth it in the long run. After a quick rest, everyone was once again whisked outside to review road guard procedures, which was partially inspired by a noticeable “brainfarts” among designated road guards for the flights (for those of you wondering, the guy writing this was one of the road guards). It has not begun yet, but the rivalry between flights is not long in coming. Already, reports of Bravo being superior to Echo, or Charlie being better than Alpha, have been, uh, reported. J Well, that’s all for now. Good night and Good luck…. *klunk* zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…
