Message from the Commander

Thank you for your interest in the Civil Air Patrol and the Central Fellowship Christian Academy Cadet Squadron. Our squadron is now preparing for our fourth year at CFCA and we are continually looking forward to bigger and better things as we progress through this next year. Let me begin by telling you about Civil Air Patrol.

CAP is a volunteer membership organization made-up of Cadets and Officers, who like you, are looking for the opportunity to give something back to their country and community. For over 65 years, CAP has been serving this great nation with a three fold mission, Emergency Services, the Cadet Program and Aerospace Education. The Emergency Services mission involves Search and Rescue, Disaster Relief, and Homeland Security. CAP performs 95% of our nation's inland Search and Rescue missions saving approximately 100 lives per year. We operate the largest fleet of single-engine piston aircraft in the world and over 62,000 members fly more than 120,000 hours every year. The Cadet Programs Mission supports the development of our nation's youth through Aerospace Education, Self Discipline, Moral Leadership, and Cadet Leadership training. The Aerospace Education mission offers both internal and external education programs to members and the community alike.

The Cadets and Officers in our squadron have participated in field trips, Model Rocketry weekends, week long Encampments, USAF KC-135 tanker flights, powered and glider flights in CAP aircraft, Air Traffic Control Tower Tours, Emergency Services training programs, Search and Rescue Exercises, community service events, drill and military studies, and participate in the Color Guard. Most of all, we proudly wear the U.S. Air Force uniform.

If you are between the age 12 to 18, age 11 and in the 6th grade, or an adult (18+) that wants to work with cadets, I invite you to contact me for more information. Our membership meetings take place every week on Thursday nights (even through the summer months) from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM. We start our meetings in the High School Gym at 6:30 PM with formation and inspection followed by drill or academics. Academics takes place in the High School Building in Room 607. We also meet the first Saturday of each month from 9:00 AM until 12:30 PM at the school for PT testing, Promotion Testing, and the monthly Aerospace Education or Emergency Services exercises.

I would like to meet with you and I welcome any questions that you may have.

Capt Joseph L. Jones

Squadron Commander

Fitzgerald RecruitmentOn 19 Sept 2009, we visited the Fitzgerald Municipal Airport to join a recruitment drive for a new squadron to be located in Fitzgerald, GA. The recruitment had Cadets and Senior Officers from GA-808 and GA-810 demonstrating the various facets of Civil Air Patrol. Activities included Flight Simulators and Paper Rockets. Over the 6 hours, enough were recruited to form a composite squadron. For more on this please Click Here

Flag Folding CeremonyOn 13 October 2009, the CFCA Cadet Squadron participated in a Flag Folding Ceremony during Chapel at Central Fellowship Christian Academy. The Colors were posted, and the Flag was ceremoniously brought in and folded as Capt Joe Jones read a brief passage on the meaning of the ceremony and each fold of the flag. A brief moment of silence followed as the soldiers who have died in combat were remembered for their sacrifice.
