About Civil Air Patrol

U.S. Civil Air Patrol was formed in December,1941 just 6 days before the attack on Pearl Harbor. Civilian aviators from around the country joined together to help protect this country from attacks by German subs. They were credited with bombing several subs and sinking two, as well as several Search and Rescues! In 1946 a law was passed making U.S.CAP the Official United States Air Force Auxiliary.
Today U.S. CAP has three Federally charged missions:
Cadet Programs: To educate, inspire,and motivate todays young people to become tomorrows leaders.
Aerospace Education:To educate the public about the importance of maintaining and improving Aerospace Supremecy.
Emergency Service:U.S. CAP performs 95% of all inland Search and Rescue (S.A.R.) as well as Homeland Security,Disaster Relief, and Counter Drug missions.
