Our position on the coast provides us with
an opportunity to serve both aviation interests and
the maritime community.
The coastal waters are very busy with the commercial
shrimping and fishing industry. We have
a deep water port with extensive shipping.
And of course Brunswick is a major recreational
boating area. The two islands, St. Simons
and Jekyll, are heavily involved in the tourist trade.
There are three area airports, with Glynco
Jetport(BQK) having an 8001 foot, ILS, runway.
This runway can handle the largest aircraft.
The other airports serve Saint Simons Island(SSI)
and Jekyll Island(09J).
From our base at Glynco we can easily cover
the southeast part of the state.
We can provide ELT/EPIRB/Visual searches both inland
and coastal. This includes downed
aircraft or boats in distress/overdue. We stand
ready to provide assistance to state and local
governments or other missions with which we may
be tasked by the Air Force or CAP.
We support the CD program and occasionally provide
training assistance to our next door
neighbor, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.
We also fly a boat/sundown patrol of the local waters
five evenings a week. This is sponsored
by Glynn County with partial funding coming from
the Tourist Bureau.
We have an excellent facility available for use as
Mission Base.
